Screening is a way of identifying people who appear healthy but may be at increased risk of a disease or condition.

People can then be offered information, further tests and appropriate treatment to help reduce their risk, or reduce any complications from the disease or condition.

Breast screening: what to expect

Public Health Wales has videos that explain what happens during breast screening, from receiving your invitation to getting your results.

The videos can help explain what breast screening is, why it is important, how a mammogram is taken and what support is available.

Diabetic eye screening: local venues needed

Public Health Wales is expanding its Diabetic Eye Screening service and is looking for suitable local venues in:

  • Welshpool and Newtown
  • Llanelli
  • Conwy
  • Caerphilly
  • Blaenau Gwent

This will help make it easier for patients to attend appointments closer to home.

Screening support for trans and non-binary people

Public Health Wales has information for people who are transgender or non-binary. It can help people understand which screening tests they can have and when, and help them decide whether to take part.

Easy Read leaflets and videos are available for:

  • Cervical screening
  • Breast screening
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm, also called AAA, screening

Printed materials and trans-specific information cards are also available.
