Get urgent help if:
Call 999 or go to A&E if you have stomach pain and:
- the pain came on very suddenly or is severe
- it hurts when you touch your stomach
- you are vomiting blood, or your vomit looks like ground coffee
- your poo is bloody, black, sticky and very smelly
- you cannot pee
- you cannot poo or pass wind
- you cannot breathe
- you have chest pain
- you have diabetes and are vomiting
- someone has collapsed
Do not drive yourself to A&E. Ask someone to drive you or call 999 and ask for an ambulance.
A pharmacist may be able to help
In Wales, a pharmacist can give advice and treatment for some common stomach and digestive problems through the NHS Wales Common Ailments Service. This can include indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea and piles.
