Public Health Wales is making a change to the Diabetic Eye Screening programme in Wales, following a recommendation by the UK National Screening Committee in 2016.

What is changing?

The Welsh Government Minister for Health and Social Services agreed that Public Health Wales should implement this change.

Participants in the Diabetic Eye Screening programme who are identified as being at low risk of diabetic retinopathy will be invited for screening every two years.

When does this change start?

This change is effective from Monday 26 June 2023.
